Gutter repairs and replacement
Guttering is easy to ignore until it fails, but the consequences of faulty gutters can be serious and expensive. Overflowing or leaking gutters saturate the brickwork, leading to penetrating damp inside the property, rotten fascia boards, damaged render and even subsidence if water is pooling near the foundations. The good news is that most gutter problems are straightforward and inexpensive to fix - if they are caught early.
Our gutter repair service covers the full range of common issues: clearing blockages and debris, replacing perished seals and leaking joints, realigning sagging gutters to the correct fall, replacing cracked downpipes and hopper heads, and installing complete new UPVC guttering systems. We serve homeowners and landlords across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, with same-week appointments for most repair work.
When a repair is no longer sufficient, we install complete new UPVC guttering systems from FloPlast and Brett Martin, in half-round, square and ogee profiles, and in white, black, brown or anthracite grey. We also fit gutter guards and brush filters to reduce future maintenance. Every gutter replacement includes correct fall, adequate bracket spacing, and proper connections to underground drainage.
Why choose gutter repairs
The benefits in detail
Leak & blockage clearing
Overflowing gutters are usually caused by blockages from leaves, moss and debris. We clear gutters and downpipes, flush through with water and check the fall is correct.
Joint & seal replacement
Leaking gutter joints are a common problem on older UPVC systems. We replace perished rubber seals and re-seal joints with quality gutter sealant for a lasting fix.
Sagging gutter realignment
Gutters that sag or hold water have incorrect fall or failed brackets. We realign gutters to the correct fall and replace broken brackets to restore proper water flow.
Complete gutter replacement
When repairs are no longer viable, we install complete new UPVC guttering and downpipe systems in half-round, square or ogee profiles, in white, black or brown.
Downpipe & hopper repairs
Cracked or blocked downpipes and hopper heads repaired or replaced, including connections to underground drainage and soakaways.
Gutter guards & leaf filters
We can fit gutter guards or brush filters to prevent leaves and moss from blocking your gutters, reducing the need for future cleaning and maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions
The most common cause of gutter overflow is a blockage - leaves, moss from the roof, and debris build up in the gutter and downpipe, preventing water from flowing away. Other causes include incorrect fall (the gutter is not sloping towards the outlet), undersized gutters for the roof area, or a blockage in the underground drainage. We diagnose the cause and fix it.
Gutters should be cleaned at least once a year, ideally in autumn after the leaves have fallen. Properties surrounded by trees may need cleaning twice a year. Regular cleaning prevents the build-up that causes blockages, overflow and water damage. We offer gutter cleaning as a standalone service or as part of a repair visit.
Yes, in most cases. Leaking UPVC gutter joints are usually caused by perished rubber seals or degraded sealant. We can dismantle the joint, replace the seal, re-seal with quality gutter sealant and re-assemble. If the gutter section itself is cracked or split, we replace the affected section.
Half-round guttering is the traditional choice and suits most properties. It has a smooth flow and is easy to clean. Square (deep-flow) guttering has a higher capacity and is better for larger roof areas or properties in areas of heavy rainfall. Ogee guttering has a decorative moulded profile that suits period properties. We will advise on the best profile for your roof area and property style.
Gutter replacement costs depend on the length of guttering, the number of downpipes, the profile and the access requirements (scaffolding or tower). As a guide, replacing the guttering on a typical semi-detached house with two downpipes costs in the region of £450-£700. We provide a fixed-price quote after a site inspection.
